Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a short term focused approach to assist the women at Women Drug Treatment Women’s Wellness Center in gaining or identifying coping skills and strategies, including awareness to the situations in which they would most likely return to the use of alcohol or drugs. Working together the Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and the woman identify thought process, feelings, and circumstances relating to before and after use. Being highly compatible with other treatment approaches CBT can be an effect therapeutic approach in addressing chemical dependency and concurrent psychiatric disorders.

CBT is beneficial to not only reducing and eliminating substance use but also imparts skills that can benefit the woman post her alcohol and drug treatment experience. CBT includes training in a number of important interpersonal skills and strategies to help women expand their social support networks and build enduring, drug-free relationships.

CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and focused on the immediate issues.

CBT is a flexible, individualized approach that can be adapted to both Women Drug Treatment Women’s Wellness Center Residential Treatment Program as well as our Outpatient program.

CBT is compatible with a range of other treatments Women Drug Treatment provides such as pharmacotherapy, family and couples counseling, parenting education, and vocational counseling.
